Verses for Baptism

Yesterday was my nephew's baptism. I ran across a card in a boutique that said "Made for a Mighty Plan" and blank inside. It was not meant to be a baptism card, but I thought would make an excellent card for the sacrament, as it seemed to flow naturally into thinking of Jeremiah 29, "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord..."

So I got to thinking about this newborn baby boy along with other babies and the hopes parents have for their child. I wanted to give the best reminders from the bible to this child, so that when he gets older and life gets rough, he can reflect on verses that tell him, once baptized, the Holy Spirit is always with us.

My favorites are:

"And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:20

 

"For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord,                                 plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."
Jeremiah 29:11 RSV
